Ascension Images
This graphite study was done in the mid 70s after a series of visions kept reoccurring during my evening meditations of the Christ above me. It felt so real that I would open my eyes and look backward above my head to catch a glimpse of his presence. After a while I would simply feel the soft brush of his hands on my cheeks and forehead. The air in my study would always feel super-charged after these encounters.
I gave the study to the monks at the Conyers Monastery in Georgia where it has hung in the retreat house ever since. The monks have an interesting story of how the hands seem to move in different photos. Linda and I were shown one where the hands were cupped over a woman's head as she stood below the picture for a photo. A shaft of light seemed to move from the hands into her head in her photo. I denied any knowing of such events and explained that I had only channeled to image.
